Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do we go about booking our wedding?
The most important thing is to get a date and venue booked in and confirmed (especially for the most popular venues such as Cameo, Alexandra Beach and Balcony which get booked up very quickly) You can then relax and slowly put together in your own time the package of your choice from our list of extras. We will of course be in touch over the coming months if you have any queries about paperwork and extras. At the end of the previous year before your wedding I will send you further guidelines of how and when to get started on your paperwork as well as a 'Final List of Requirements' sheet so that we can put together your package and costing.
2. When will we have to pay for the wedding?
Once the date and venue have been confirmed I will require a 300 euros deposit plus a 200 euros deposit for the venue to be sent by bank transfer. These deposits are non refundable but of course will be deducted from your final balance. All other monies are payable much nearer the time.
3. Is there a legal residency requirement?
We need to get your paperwork to the town hall eight days before the wedding but I am able to do this on your behalf (copies and then the originals once you arrive) so you yourselves don't need to be here until a couple of days beforehand in order for us to meet and make the final arrangements. Please also leave four or five days after the ceremony in order for us to have time to collect your marriage certificate and photographs etc.
4. Will our marriage be legally recognised?
Weddings in Greece are completely legal as they comply to Greek law and are legally recognised in the UK etc. You will receive three Greek certified copies of the marriage certificate plus three legalised English translations. These certificates can then be used in order to change your name etc when you go back to your home country and you will receive these before you leave. You do not need to record/register your marriage anywhere in the UK when you get back.
5. Do we have to stay in a specific resort?
No you can stay anywhere in Zakynthos regardless of where your wedding is to take place.
6. Where are the wedding ceremonies conducted?
Wedding ceremonies are conducted in the venue of your choice, usually a beach side venue, restaurant or hotel. We have to visit the town hall at some stage after the wedding in order to sign for and collect your marriage certificate. We will take you to the town hall for this appointment.
7. Is the wedding ceremony conducted in Greek?
Yes the wedding ceremony is conducted in Greek by the registrar but one of our wedding planners will be there to translate simultaneously as the ceremony is taking place. We have taken a very short and simple ceremony and have transformed it into a romantic ceremony with your own vows, readings and music. You can also opt to add in a beautiful sand ceremony to add to that romantic moment as well as making the ceremony that little bit longer.
